The Gray Lady was telling me about how the super rich are not getting super richer anymore. I guess there’s some sort of blip happening with the economy – in that the end of the financial world is imminent – and that blip has made these multi-multimillionaires only regular multimillionaires. My day job involves a lot of writing and editing. The people I work with, while very talented and intelligent people, know little about the rules of grammar. Because of this, I frequently – and gladly – explain some of the nuances of grammar to them. This is my most recent, Provo- and Orem-related article to appear in Schooled Magazine. And although it was written specifically for the BYU/UVU audience, its application is hopefully universal. Enjoy.

Norse lore tells us of the troll – a mean and often ugly creature whose soul purpose was to bring hardship and heartache to anything he encountered. Most famously, perhaps, is the Norwegian fairy tale of Three Billy Goats Gruff where the antagonist troll lives under a bridge over which three goat brothers need to cross in order to get to greener pastures. After only one minor inconvenience, I had my (hopefully) final BYU experience last night. I took my last final – for which I did not study at all – got 68 percent of the questions right, and frolicked all the way home.

Now, this post will probably be of zero interest to most people, so you may not even want to bother reading it. But I thought I would use the “log” part of this “weB LOG” to give a summary of my long years at BYU. More specifically, I wanted to outline the interesting series of events (coincidences?) that, at least at first, seemed liked roadblocks, trials or hindrances, but are really the reason I am where I am today.
